Accessibility Statement
Grand Blanc Community Schools (GBCS) recognizes the importance of making its webpages accessible to all individuals. GBCS Board Policy 7540.02 addresses web accessibility.
Introduction
Grand Blanc Community Schools (GBCS) strives to ensure our websites are accessible to those with disabilities. We value every learner and are committed to being a leader in expanding access to all. Therefore, it is GBCS' commitment to ensure that our website is accessible to individuals with disabilities.
The goals of the Web Accessibility Procedure Document are:
- Identify and adopt the specific technical standard(s) GBCS will use to determine whether online content is accessible.
- Designate a Web Accessibility Coordinator to coordinate and implement the Web Accessibility Procedure Document.
- Inform visitors to the GBCS website how they can report concerns regarding content accessibility.
Definition
"Accessible" means a person with a disability is afforded the opportunity to acquire the same information, engage in the same interactions, and enjoy the same services as a person without a disability in an equally effective and equally integrated manner, with substantially equivalent ease of use. A person with a disability must be able to obtain the information as fully, equally, and independently as a person without a disability. Although this might not result in identical ease of use compared to that of persons without disabilities, it still must ensure equal opportunity to the educational benefits and opportunities afforded by the technology and equal treatment in the use of such technology.
Scope
These procedures apply to all web pages that are contained on GBCS' website.
Standards
The GBCS website will meet the standards and guidelines outlined in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 published by W3C. All pages will meet Level AA guidelines. All GBCS webpages will link to the GBCS main Accessibility page which will include a statement of commitment to Web accessibility.
GBCS' commitment to Web accessibility extends to online content provided or developed by third parties. Should you find that such content is not accessible, please make us aware by contacting our Web Accessibility Coordinator.
