FISH of Grand Blanc
April 21, 2025 Update from Barb Smith:
FISH of GB is currently feeding over 400 people weekly.
The demand for our assistance will increase significantly the week after school is out. Yes, we are also feeling the effects of the cutbacks. The USDA foods we order are few and far apart. They cost about $4.75 for a 24 case and the supply is limited. Prices then jump up to $35.00 a case. This is where donations have become critical.
You often hear us ask for, “meals in a can or a box”. IE: spagettios, ravioli, chunky soups, chili, beef stew, mac and cheese, tuna/burger helper, pancake mix/syrup, peanut butter, jelly, cereal. These are "higher ticket” items. We supply canned fruits/vegetables/soups, side dishes, dry and canned potatoes and more. Together, they help create a balanced diet.
