Mrs. Amy Cottrill
I always struggle when I have to talk about myself. What to share? What makes Amy Cottrill, Amy Cottrill?
First and foremost, I am a mom and wife. There is great joy in being a part of a family and raising children. My daughters are Caitlin (15) and
Alayna (13). My husband Nate and I have been married for almost 17 years. As well as my nuclear family, I am very close to my parents and my sister
and her family.
Just as important is my role as teacher. There is something about knowing that I am having a hand in the future. I hope that I enrich the lives of my students and that they leave my classroom better people from our time together. I view my profession as not only imparting knowledge into future generations, but also molding and shaping them into the leaders of tomorrow.
This year, my schedule includes Academic Research and Composition, English 10, Pre-AP English 9, and Competitive Debate. All of these classes offer so much for students, and I am proud to be able to teach these course to help students become the best they can be! I am also the Debate coach, and I love it. Coaching allows me to interact with students in a different way and see them blossom over the course of the season. This year, I am also overseeing student government.
When I get the time, I also LOVE to learn-anything and everything. I earned a BA in Education from Western Michigan University in 2002 ( Go Broncos!) and a M.Ed. from Oakland University in 2006. I love reading up on new subjects and trying new things. I also enjoy scrapbooking, reading, and watching movies.
