I'm Sarah Courneya and I teach Language Arts at East Middle School. In addition to teaching, I am also an instructional coach for our staff and the English department chair. I have experience teaching at both the elementary and middle school levels, and I've been with GB schools since 2006. 

I attended Miami University in Oxford, OH, where I studied both journalism and political science. I hold a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Michigan, and I am currently completing my Ed.S. in Leadership at Oakland University. 

In Grand Blanc, I have held a variety of leadership positions, including extensive work with the Grading Committee, ACC, and School Improvement, both at the building and the district level. I am also heavily involved in Grand Blanc athletics, both as a coach and through booster activities. 

I am passionate about literacy and have devoted my entire teaching career to modeling best practices in reading, writing, speaking, and listening for students. I'm excited to work with all of our amazing students and staff here at East!
