Board Member Transitions

Under Michigan state law, members of a local board of education must be at least 18 years of age, be registered school electors (eligible to vote and registered as a voter), and reside within the school district they seek to represent.

An individual appointed by the Board to a seat left vacant mid-term will serve until the next regularly scheduled election. At that time, the open Board seat will be placed on the ballot for election to complete the remainder of the term. Board of Education seats are elected for a term of 6 years.

A letter of interest, including why you would like to join the Board, and any relevant experience and/or relationship to the district and community, will assist the Board in selection. A resume would also be helpful. All applicants are required to submit a PDF or photo of their current driver’s license. This information would be emailed to the Board Secretary.
