New Tech Updates

GBCS Technology Services is continually working to find better and easier ways for staff and students to access resources and programs.  Here are just a few of the exciting new developments for the upcoming school year.

Student Email Address Changes

Starting in early August 2021, all non-alphanumeric characters (hyphens and apostrophes) will be removed from student email addresses.  All student email addresses/Chromebook logins will contain letters and numbers only.  For more information, click here.

Jupiter Password Changes for 6th grade and up

Starting in Fall 2021, all 6th graders and up will be forced to set their own Jupiter password in an effort to help ensure that Jupiter accounts remain private.

What Does this Mean for Staff?

Once initiated, students will not have access to Jupiter until they have set a new password.  In the event that a student is unable to set their own password using the multiple methods available to them, teachers/building staff may need to help students with the reset.  For more information, click here.

Technology is now using FMX for Technology Work Orders

As of early July, the system staff will use to put in Technology work orders has changed to FMX to align with the system being used by Maintenance.  The website staff will use to put in work orders (For Staff->Staff Work Order System) has not changed, however.

What Does this Mean for Staff?

When it is necessary to put in a Technology work order, staff will still go to the Staff Work Order System page and click on the Technology icon but will now be directed to FMX where they will need to click Sign In with SSO then enter in their email address, password, and two-factor code sent via text (follows the same process as logging into staff email).
