Virtual Learning Resources for Staff
Welcome to GBCS Staff Virtual Learning Support site!
Please see the links to the left for recommended tools to use for virtual instruction along with brief tutorials, recommendations for lesson design, and general tips and strategies for virtual teaching and learning.
The content resource pages have suggestions and ideas from our school district's curriculum team, department chairs, and coaches. Please use whatever content best fits with what your own students need and aligns with our goal of providing instruction over the next two weeks that gives students daily routine, structure, and moves them forward (albeit more slowly than the regular classroom) with their learning.
Good, quality instruction can be done online almost as well as in the classroom. Think about what purpose, student engagement, and good pedagogy are like in the classroom and use tools to duplicate that online. Rather than posting just online worksheets, consider facilitating collaborative problem solving through online discussion and posts. Rather than simply listen to lectures and/or videos, consider incorporating graphic organizers, note-taking templates, or planning sheets. Provide choice boards or learning menus and always give feedback. Frequent formative feedback is key for learning.
Not sure where to start? One step at a time. Start slow and simple and build more once you are comfortable with the tools you are learning first. Please contact any of the sources listed below for support!
