01-20- GBHS Continues Onsite Therapy Through Partnership with Easterseals

Grand Blanc teachers, counselors, parents and students have a valuable mental health resource at their fingertips this year at Grand Blanc High School. Students can see a licensed clinician with expertise in family and youth behavioral health at the high school.

Grand Blanc Community Schools recognizes the need for meaningful mental health support to students and families in the district, especially those that might otherwise have difficulty with scheduling or transportation. Any GBHS student can be seen on a regular basis if it’s determined helpful, or care might just include a one-time appointment or short period of counseling. In any case, students need not leave school or interrupt their schedule to receive the services they need.

Students can be scheduled before, during and after school with Julie Doyle, LMSW. Julie was chosen for this role because of her expertise with youth and experience in a school setting. She also specializes in trauma services. Guardians must agree to have the student participate and complete the registration/intake with Easterseals of Michigan. A teacher or counselor can refer a student if they see a need, but no student under 18 will be seen without a guardian’s permission. Parents and students are welcome to inquire with their school counselor if they would like a student to see the therapist. Therapy can include family members if it is beneficial to the situation.
