GBCS Announces New Website & App

When school starts next month at Grand Blanc Community Schools, the district will be reaching the community through a new website and mobile app. These changes were brought about and made possible with funding by the 2018-2023 Strategic Plan. The GBCS Technology Department led a group through a lengthy selection process over the last year, researching and interviewing dozens of companies.

Blackboard, a well-respected provider of digital education solutions, was ultimately chosen to provide a comprehensive website/messaging/mobile app service to the district. A new, shorter domain was acquired, as well. The new website is located at That old domain does forward to the new site, but users are encouraged to update their bookmarks to the new domain to avoid glitches.

The mobile app, which is totally new for GBCS, is available for download from Apple and Android. The app will bring building-specific information from various sources into one feed, as well as provide a hub for accessing many district services.

The app also has a student/family-specific user login available that will be utilized in the near future. This login information will be sent out a few weeks into the school year.

Those who currently receive phone and email notifications should not experience a significant change, but those services will now be provided by Blackboard. As an added convenience, the staff does have the option of including those messages on the feed of the mobile app.

Building sites, staff contact information, school menus, calendars, news and more are available immediately on the new website. The app is currently available for download by searching Grand Blanc Community Schools or GBCS in your mobile device’s app store. (Look for the GBCS logo.)
