GB FISH Continues Free Food Distribution in 2019-20
GB FISH continues to help limit food waste at GBCS and help the GB community by distributing excess frozen foods from the school dining services. They also add items from the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan (FBEM) such as dairy, bread, and produce as available.
This program is for Grand Blanc residents and you will need to bring picture ID and proof of residency, as well as your own bags. The distributions will take place at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church at 9020 S. Saginaw in Grand Blanc on the following dates:
Oct. 7th & 21st
Nov. 4th & 18th
Dec. 2nd & 16th
Jan. 6th & Tuesday, 21st
Feb 3rd & Tuesday, 18th
March 2nd & 16th
April 6th & 20th
May 4th & 18th
June 1st & 15th
This is done on a first-come, first-served basis from 3 pm-4:30 pm or until the food is gone. YOU MUST live in the GBCS district to be eligible.
Nearly 18.5 tones of food were handed out in the 2018-19 school year to over 2000 participants. More than 1 in 3 students in Grand Blanc participate in the Free/Reduced Lunch Program.
FISH also maintains a food pantry at Hill Funeral Home. Each food call provides fresh milk, bread, eggs, fruit and produce, in addition to other purchases from the FBEM and donations to FISH. Residents in the Grand Blanc School District are eligible to receive from the pantry up to 3 times per year by calling 810.695.1880.
As always, FISH welcomes volunteers! Please call us if you have interest in helping once or on a regular basis! We have various once per year and ongoing programs that need help!
