Walmart of Grand Blanc Makes Generous Donation to GBCS
A few weeks ago Officer Dan Wolschleger got a call from Wal-Mart of Grand Blanc asking if the school district would like 5,000 free notebooks. Officer Wolschleger of the Grand Blanc Township Police Department serves as the SRO at Grand Blanc West Middle School. "Of course I said yes and we put them at the Perry Center," said Officer Wolschleger, "actually there were a lot more than that." He said he estimated that there were around 7000 notebooks and a significant amount of art supplies.
Last week they called him again, this time offering another $20,000 worth of school supplies! Within the supplies, he said there was "paper, notebooks, binders, pencils, markers, glue, crayons... all kinds of stuff. Basically, it's everything they did not sell for their back to school sale and they're donating it to the district."
The district grounds crew assisted with the second pick-up. Various district buildings have requested items from the donation already on behalf of staff and students. The supplies will be used on an as-needed basis until they are exhausted.
Grand Blanc Community Schools is immensely grateful for this generous donation from Walmart of Grand Blanc.
