GBHS SUMMER SCHOOL REGISTRATION
IS CLOSED FOR SUMMER 2024!

GBHS Summer Advanced Credit Courses

Most courses are 100% online advanced credit courses. Students are required to have reliable and consistent access to a Wi-Fi-enabled computer/laptop and Internet access.

Advanced Credit summer school courses contain a full semester of course content; it is important to note that the time frame has been reduced, but the standards, workload, and expectations have not been reduced. To be successful, students must be willing to dedicate 5-8 hours of work per day, understanding that 1 day of summer school equates to 2 weeks of traditional class time. Most courses are paced and include due dates/deadlines for submissions. Students are expected to participate on a daily or, at minimum, weekly basis.

  • There is a maximum of 2 Advanced Credit Courses per Summer; No limit on Credit Recovery

  • All Courses will be reported on student transcripts: Pass = A thru D-, Fail or Incomplete = E or NC

  • No refunds will be granted

  • Student/Families identify interest in summer school and register through ParentVue/Synergy; Advanced credit classes are self-selected and counselor-approved.

  • Credit Recovery courses are counselor-identified, then students/families determine how many they are committing to purchase/complete.

  • Courses must be registered for, approved and paid prior to enrollment (and within the registration window)

  • Billing will be sent after courses have been approved by counselors.

  • Grades will be available before the 2024/25 Orientation at GBHS.

NEW! PLEASE READ!: SUMMER SCHOOL - ADVANCED CREDIT POLICY

Students at Grand Blanc High School are encouraged to take a rigorous academic course load that both aligns with their post-secondary goals and their individual areas of interest. In some instances, a student may want to pursue advanced credits outside the school year. This pursuit may be considered when a student wants to allow for space in their schedule to take additional electives or when a student is interested in advancing through a specific content area at an accelerated pace.

Any student pursuing advanced credit must have prior permission of the counselor to enroll in any summer school class. If permission is not granted, then credit will not be granted. Summer School classes are offered through the Grand Blanc High School Summer School program.

Students may earn a maximum of 2 credits from approved summer school coursework in a given year.

If the summer course work is taken using an online platform and a student intends to use the completed credit to advance in a content area, they will be required to demonstrate proficiency of the course content by passing the online course with a C+ (77.5%) or better grade and taking the equivalent Grand Blanc High School course exam. Proficiency on the exam will be considered any score of C+ (77.5%) or higher. Failure to earn the required exam score will result in the student not being granted credit for completion of the summer course. Any costs associated with the summer coursework will not be refunded.

All advanced coursework taken online will only be eligible for “credit” on the high school transcript.

There are NO REFUNDS beyond the registered session start date. Incomplete or unsuccessful courses will appear on the transcript as "NC" (no credit).
